Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A comb back Windsor chair features an elevated upper back rail resting on vertical spindles that extend above the main arm bow, resembling the teeth of a hair comb. This design offers additional upper back support compared to low-back tub or smokers bow variants.

Windsor chairs were traditionally constructed using a combination of regional hardwoods selected for specific functional properties. Elm was frequently used for the solid saddle seats due to its non-splitting grain, while ash, beech, and alder were utilised for steam-bent bows, spindles, and turned legs.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-turned spindles, wedged tenon joinery where the legs pass through the seat, and natural wear patterns on the seat contours and armrests. The timber often displays original surface patina, shrinkage marks around joints, and tool marks underneath the seat.

A large uniform set of Windsor armchairs can be arranged around a contemporary minimalist dining table or a long refectory table to create visual contrast. They also suit commercial spaces such as boardrooms, traditional pubs, or boutique hospitality settings.

Clean timber armchairs by wiping with a dry microfiber cloth to remove dust. Apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the wood finish and prevent drying, avoiding synthetic sprays and direct heat sources.
