Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian bedside cabinets, historically referred to as pot cupboards, were designed during the 19th century for night-time utility storage. Typically constructed with a single panelled door, internal shelving, and a small gallery rail, they served both functional and decorative purposes in classic British bedrooms.

Late Victorian cabinetry relied heavily on high-grade solid hardwoods such as mahogany, walnut, and oak, frequently embellished with lighter inlay timbers. Doors were constructed with frame-and-panel techniques, supported by hand-cut dovetail joinery and solid brass hardware.

Authentic pieces by Heal & Son (later Heals) often feature a stamped makers mark along the door edge, interior frame, or back panel. Genuine late 19th-century examples showcase high-precision joinery, refined timber selection, turned finials, and detailed moulding work.

Beyond functioning as a traditional bedside table, a Victorian pot cupboard works effectively as a side table beside a sofa or as a compact accent cabinet in an entryway. Placing contemporary lamps or ceramic vessels on top creates a balanced contrast between historic timber and modern design.

Position antique wooden furniture away from direct heat sources and bright sunlight to prevent timber movement and finish fading. Apply a natural beeswax polish annually using a soft lint-free cloth, buffing gently along the grain to preserve the original surface patina.
