Grey Working Horse - Antique Oil Painting

Oil on canvas showing grey horse pulling a hay tuner and attributed to Winifred Wilson (1882 - 1973) mounted in a simple wooden frame.
 
 
Wilson was a painter in oil and a farmer by occupation, she studied art privately with Sir John Arnesby Brown. She went on to exhibit widely in the English provinces, and at the RA, ROI, at the Paris Salon and in America. The Graves Art Gallery, Sheffield, holds her work. She was a sister of the painters May and Violet Wilson. Lived at Barlow, near Sheffield. Her style is very free and her palette is fresh.
