19th century
For Sale by AC Silver
Description

A stunning, fine and impressive antique Victorian 1.40 carat diamond and 18 carat yellow gold dress ring; part of our Victorian jewellery collection.

This stunning Victorian diamond ring has been crafted in 18ct yellow gold.

This pierced decorated dress ring is ornamented with impressive 0.41ct, 0.40ct and 0.39ct Old European cut diamonds, vertical aligned to the centre.

The multi-stranded design incorporates ten diamonds, in a combination of Old European and mine cuts, each pavé set to a foliated terminal.

The tapering ring shoulders blend with the setting and meld with the plain hallmarked ring shank.

This antique Victorian ring has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as 18 carat gold.

This impressive antique diamond ring is supplied with three IDGL diamond grading report certificates for the feature stones, in addition to an IDGL diamond grading report card for the supporting stones.

This Victorian multi stranded diamond ring in yellow gold reflects period craftsmanship and enduring sentiment. Well suited to commemorative gifting or as a notable addition to an antique jewellery collection.

Images do not always reflect the true colour and brilliance of gemstones and diamonds. The video however provides a truer representation of the actual colour and showcases each stone.

Condition

This impressive antique gold diamond ring is excellent quality, set with very high colour graded feature diamonds displaying a fine white colour, brilliance and presence; although one of the diamonds is clarity graded at P1, it shows no unsightly black inclusions.

The well colour matched supporting diamonds display a fine white colour and brilliance.

The ring is an excellent gauge of gold and is in excellent condition.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this fine example of Victorian jewellery.

Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Late Victorian dress rings, crafted during the late 19th century, typically feature warm 18ct yellow gold settings, intricate filigree or multi-band openwork, and cushion-cut diamonds or coloured gemstones designed for evening wear.

Rings from this era were predominantly crafted from 18ct yellow gold or silver-topped gold settings, featuring hand-cut diamonds such as cushion cuts and rose cuts secured by claw or grain settings.

Authentic Victorian pieces often feature hallmark stamps indicating gold purity alongside hand-faceted cushion or mine-cut diamonds that display asymmetrical proportions and open culets.

An antique diamond dress ring can be worn as a standalone statement piece on the right hand or stacked alongside slender contemporary gold bands for a contrast of historical and modern styles.

Clean the ring using warm water, mild soap, and a soft-bristled brush, ensuring it is dried thoroughly with a microfibre cloth and stored separately from other gemstones to avoid scratch marks.
