About the Artist
André Prévot-Valéri was a respected French painter celebrated for pastoral and coastal landscapes, particularly those connected to Normandy. The son of landscape painter Auguste Prévot-Valéri, he grew up within the Paris art world and trained under Marcel Baschet, Henri Royer, and Louis-Marie Désiré-Lucas. He debuted at the Paris Salon in 1910 and exhibited regularly, receiving multiple awards including the Édouard Lemaître Prize, Henri Zuber Prize, and a Silver Medal at the Paris Salon. After service in World War I, he returned to landscape painting with heightened sensitivity, later exhibiting successfully in Paris and receiving the Prix Rosa-Bonheur. His works appear in public and archival collections in France and the UK, and his post-war Norman landscapes remain increasingly sought after.
