Exhibit Antiques has dated this Graystan Pedestal Glass Bowl to the 1930s.
White internal trails have been pulled up into festoons around the lower body leading to an undulating rim. The central knop to the stem is hollow and optically ribbed, matching the ribbed and dombed foot that features an opaque white trailed rim. Signed Gray-Stan to the foot’s base.

Historical Context
In 1925, Mrs Elizabeth Graydon-Stannus established a glass studio at 69–71 High Street, Battersea, London, with full-scale production beginning in early 1926 and a workforce of around twelve. The studio fostered a highly independent creative environment in which artisans were encouraged to design their own works and contribute new ideas. Committed to artistic originality, Mrs Graydon-Stannus required all glass to be handmade and rejected mechanical assistance, which she dismissed as “the enemy of individuality.” This philosophy was summed up in her advertising slogan: “Gray-Stan does not copy, it creates.”
