Vaseline glass is a form of coloured glass containing small amounts of uranium dioxide, which gives it a distinctive yellow or green tint and fluorescent quality under ultraviolet light. Popularized in nineteenth-century Europe and Great Britain, production peaked between the 1880s and the 1920s.

Victorian green glassware was created by mixing uranium oxide into molten glass batches before hand-blowing or pressing into moulds. The stems and bowls were often individually worked, featuring hand-cut facets, knopped details, or wheel-engraved geometric and star patterns.

Authentic pieces exhibit a characteristic translucent green or oily yellow shade under natural light and fluoresce bright green under a 395nm blacklight. Original Victorian stemware usually displays slight hand-crafting variations, pontil marks on the base, and period-appropriate cut details.
