In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Victorian pedestal desk consists of two vertical banks of drawers supporting a wide desktop surface, creating a central open space for legroom known as a kneehole.

Desks from this era were primarily constructed using solid woods such as mahogany, oak, or walnut, frequently incorporating hand-cut dovetail joinery and solid brass castors.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, original brass locks, age-appropriate patination on the timber, and constructed drawer linings made of pine or oak.

Position the piece as a focal point within a home office or library, complemented by a contemporary desk lamp and minimalist seating to contrast modern and historic design elements.

Maintain timber stability by positioning the item away from direct heat sources and moisture, dusting regularly with a microfibre cloth, and applying beeswax periodically to protect the finish.
