Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Bohemian glass originates from the regions of Bohemia and Silesia, now part of the Czech Republic. It gained international renown during the 17th to 19th centuries due to its high clarity, durable quality, and the invention of specialised cutting, engraving, and colouring techniques.

These pieces were crafted by mouth-blowing glass into shape, often using metal oxides such as gold chloride to achieve deep ruby or cranberry tones. Decorative details were subsequently applied by hand using liquid gold leaf or enamel and fired in a kiln to permanently fuse the ornament to the vessel.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit evidence of handcrafting, such as slight variations in dimensions, hand-cut or polished pontil marks on the base, and age-consistent surface wear to the undersides and gilded areas. The enamelling and gilding typically show precise workmanship with fine raised detailing.

Glass vessels with bold colouration and gilded patterning work well as focal accents when placed against neutral backdrops, such as marble tops or painted mantels. Styling them in pairs creates symmetry on sideboards, console tables, or shallow shelving units.

Gilded and enamelled glass should be cleaned gently using warm water and a mild detergent, applied with a soft microfibre cloth. Avoid soaking, harsh chemical cleaners, abrasives, or hot water, as these can strip or degrade historic gilding and enamel over time.
