This charming vintage wooden piano or sewing stool dates from the early 20th century and features beautifully curved cabriole style legs, decorative carved front panels and a richly polished mahogany toned finish. The top lifts to reveal a spacious interior storage compartment, ideal for keeping sheet music, craft supplies, sewing accessories or personal bits and pieces discreetly tucked away.
The seat is upholstered in its original raised floral velvet fabric in shades of gold, caramel and warm brown, a classic period textile that instantly evokes Edwardian design. The fabric shows expected age related wear including light flattening to the pile, minor thread pulls and gentle fading in places, but it remains clean, comfortable and full of retro charm.
The wooden frame is sturdy and well made, though it displays typical vintage character such as small scuffs, surface scratches, and patches of finish variation on the legs and
...apron, but nothing that affects its strength or structure. The hinges are secure and the lid opens and closes smoothly. The underside of the seat and the interior compartment are solid, showing only surface wear from long-term storage use. Overall, this is a well-preserved, functional and attractive vintage piece with genuine mid-century heritage.
The original brass inside arm has been replaced by leather.
Perfect as a piano stool, dressing table seat, hallway bench, bedside accent, sewing box or storage stool, it brings warmth and period charm to bedrooms, living rooms, studios and vintage-inspired interiors. Its combination of decorative carving, shaped legs and retro velvet upholstery makes it both practical and decorative, offering a lovely touch of history along with everyday usefulness.
