Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the 19th century, ceramic apothecary jars were manufactured across Britain to store medicinal herbs, preparations, and raw ingredients such as honey. These vessels featured hand-painted labels, gilding, and Classical architectural forms derived from Greek and Roman urns.

These jars were constructed from earthenware or bone china, finished with lead glazes, enamel decoration, and hand-applied gold leaf gilding. Twin molded handles and fitted ceramic lids provided functional containment and ease of handling.

Authentic period examples feature hand-drawn lettering rather than modern digital transfer prints, along with natural wear to the gilding along handles and rims. Undersides frequently bear impressed or painted manufacturer marks, unglazed seating rings, and evidence of hand-turned craftsmanship.

Position the vessel on a kitchen counter, open dresser shelf, or bathroom vanity to provide visual height and color contrast. Displaying the jar alongside complementary ceramic or glass pharmaceutical bottles creates a structured curio collection.

Dust the surface using a soft, dry cloth or a slightly damp microfibre cloth without liquid detergents. Avoid submerging gilded ceramic pieces in water or using abrasive pads, as friction will lift the delicate burnished gold detailing.
