Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Stilton scoops emerged in 18th-century England during the Georgian era to facilitate the serving of whole Stilton cheese wheels. The curved scoop allowed diners to extract cheese from the core of the wheel without breaking the outer crust.

Cheese scoops were typically constructed with sterling silver or electroplated nickel silver blades fitted to carved bone, ivory, mother-of-pearl, or hardwood handles. A metal collar or ferrule secured the blade to the handle structure.

Authentic pieces feature makers marks or hallmarks stamped near the ferrule or on the rear of the blade. Construction details such as hand-cut handle joints, natural patination, and minor wear at points of friction also indicate age.

An antique cheese scoop can be styled alongside a wooden cheese board, slate platter, or glass cloche during formal dining or charcuterie presentation. Combining vintage serveware with modern tableware creates visual contrast.

Hand washing in warm water with mild detergent is required, avoiding prolonged submersion to protect the handle material and glue joins. Silver components should be gently polished with a soft cotton cloth and silver polish, avoiding abrasive cleaners.
