S & A Marsh has dated this Sterling Silver Meat Platter to the 1800s.
There are some very slight knife marks on the body which are normal and in keeping with natural use over the years. There is also a crest on one side of the border which adds to the history of this desirable and collectable item. It remains in extremely good condition.

The arms on the meat plate are those of Henry Preston of Moreby Hall, Yorkshire and those of his wife Anna Crompton, daughter of Joshua Crompton of Esholt Hall, Yorkshire. They were married in 1814.
It was hallmarked in London for 1832 by Paul Storr.
