A good original example of an Imperial German Baden Reserve Infantry Regiment Other Ranks Pickelhaube, dating from the late Imperial period, circa 1900–1914.
The helmet retains its correct brass Baden helmet plate featuring the crowned griffin, fitted with the Reserve cross to the chest bearing the motto “Mit Gott für Fürst und Vaterland”. As typical for Reserve formations, the lower scrolls are blank. The Reserve cross shows partial loss of the original silvered finish, as commonly encountered on original examples.
Fitted with the correct Other Ranks brass spike, mounted on a circular spike base secured by plain domed studs, together with polished brass front trim and rear spine, consistent with Baden issue. Complete with leather chinstrap and fitted with both the Reich cockade and the Baden state cockade.
The black lacquered leather shell retains good shape, showing honest service wear, surface crazing, and small areas of lacquer loss consistent with age. The interior retain
...s the original leather liner, complete and undisturbed. No visible regimental markings, which is not unusual for Baden helmets.
Overall a sound, untouched example of a Baden Reserve Pickelhaube, offered in honest condition and free from modern restoration.
