Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the late 19th century, enamel jewellery gained popularity due to advancements in vitreous enamelling techniques, allowing for detailed miniature paintings on metal bases. Motif themes frequently drew inspiration from natural history, flora, and fauna.

Pendants from circa 1900 commonly featured 9ct or 15ct gold frames enclosing vitreous enamel miniatures painted with mineral pigments onto copper or gold plates.

Authentic pieces generally display period hallmark stamps (such as 9ct or 375), hand-painted details visible under magnification, hand-soldered jump rings, and appropriate patina on the gold mount.

An antique pendant can be worn on a modern fine gold chain for daily wear, layered with plain gold chains of varying lengths, or mounted in a glass display frame for collection presentation.

Clean gently using a soft, dry microfibre cloth to remove oils. Avoid immersion in water, chemical solvents, or ultrasonic cleaners, as moisture can compromise the enamel backing and metal setting.
