MRS BROOKS AN 18TH CENTURY REVERSE GLASS MEZZOTINT BY CHARLES SPOONER (1720 - 1767)
Mrs Brooks was a celebrated 18th century beauty and also the wife of the engraver John Brooks. This fine work is on elf a number of variants of this sitter in painted and engraved form.
Titled ‘ Mrs Brooks C.Spooner Fecit - Pronter by Jn Bowles at the Black Horse in Cornhill’
This fine and richly coloured impression c.1750 is housed in its original hand carved and gilded pear wood frame, and is in excellent condition.
