Art Deco 18ct Gold Sapphire & Diamond Ring

1900 - 1920
For Sale by Millys Marvels
Description

This original Art Deco sapphire and diamond ring is a beautiful expression of the period’s love of symmetry, sleek lines, and considered design.

At its centre sits a vivid round mixed-cut sapphire of approximately 0.40 carats, displaying a saturated royal-blue hue with impressive depth. There is a small surface crack at the edge of the sapphire. This is common in natural sapphires due to their Mohs hardness of 9, and it does not affect the stone’s overall beauty or wearability. The Sapphire is framed by two bright old European-cut diamonds, totalling approximately 0.30 carats, each nestled into platinum bezels. The cool brilliance of the diamonds contrasts beautifully with the inky blue sapphire, while the 18ct yellow gold band adds a soft, buttery warmth. An exceptional piece of Art Deco history.

This ring comes with a Milly's Marvels gift box. All other boxes are for display purpose only.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco rings, originating during the 1920s and 1930s, are defined by geometric forms, contrasting gemstone combinations, and clean linear silhouettes, frequently featuring platinum or white metal settings paired with coloured gemstones.

Rings from this era were typically constructed using 18ct yellow gold or platinum, mounting natural central gemstones such as blue sapphires alongside brilliant or transitional cut diamonds within bezel and rubover collets.

Authentic pieces display period hallmarks, hand-finished metalwork, milgrain detailing, geometric bezel settings, and gemstone cuts characteristic of the early 20th century.

An Art Deco three-stone ring serves as an understated statement piece that integrates easily with minimalist contemporary attire, stacked plain gold bands, or structured tailoring.

Maintain the piece by cleaning gently with warm water, mild soap, and a soft-bristled brush, avoiding harsh chemicals, ultrasonic baths, and sudden temperature shifts to safeguard the stone settings.
