Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Silver produced during the reign of King George VI (19361952) often combines classical British proportions with modern Art Deco simplicity. Pieces typically exhibit clean, unadorned surfaces, geometric accents, and functional ergonomic handles made from natural materials like wood.

British sterling silver is constructed from an alloy containing 92.5% pure silver combined with copper for strength. Handles on hot or cold liquid jugs are frequently fashioned from carved hardwoods or ivory substitutes to insulate against temperature transfer.

Authentic pieces feature a set of struck hallmarks, including the lion passant denoting sterling purity, an assay office symbol (such as a leopards head for London or an anchor for Birmingham), a makers mark, and a specific date letter representing the year of manufacture.

A silver water jug serves as an elegant centerpiece when positioned on a dining table, sideboard, or bar cart. It can function as intended during dinner service or be repurposed as a vessel for fresh botanical arrangements.

Silver should be polished periodically using a soft, non-abrasive cotton cloth and specialized silver polish to remove tarnish. The wooden components must be kept dry and wiped clean with a microfibre cloth to prevent splitting or degradation.
