Description

A fine Georgian gentleman’s desk of compact proportions, crafted from richly figured mahogany and adorned with attractive satinwood inlay. It remains in excellent antique condition and comes complete with a working key. The top section is cleverly designed to pivot, allowing the writing slope to be accessed and opened from the rear of the cupboard. Open the top measures 62cm and boasts a green baize writing surface with fitted sections for rulers, pens, ink bottles, candles, and other writing essentials. Beneath the surface is further storage, ideal for stationery or even a slim laptop. Below, a single drawer and a shelved interior behind the double doors provide additional space for office supplies. With the exception of the back, the piece is beautifully decorated with shell-style inlays framed by delicate stringing, showcasing the refined craftsmanship of the period. A superb and highly functional item for any home office, combining elegance, practicality, and Georgian charm.
