Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Arts and Crafts metalwork mirrors from this era typically feature hand-hammered metals, repousse ornamentation, and organic decorative motifs. They frequently combine contrasting metals such as copper and brass to accentuate surface texture and light reflection.

These mirrors were constructed using rolled copper and sheet brass shaped through repousse hammering and chasing techniques. Integrated candle branches were cast or fashioned from brass and riveted or bolted to the primary metal frame.

Authentic pieces from around 1900 display subtle hand-hammering irregularities, natural oxidisation within recessed details, and period-correct fixings on the reverse side. Modern reproductions often exhibit uniform machine stamping and artificial surface patination.

Positioning the mirror above a entryway console or living room sideboard creates a focal point that catches ambient room light. The warm copper and brass tones pair well with neutral plaster walls, exposed brickwork, or dark dark wall paint.

Dust the surface regularly with a dry microfibre cloth to prevent buildup in the embossed relief details. Avoid abrasive metal polishes and chemical cleaners, which strip historic patina and damage period glass backings.
