Victorian Sterling Silver Belt Buckle Cuff Bangle

Description

A super example of a solid silver Victorian belt buckle bangle with a double buckle and lovely crisp engraving to the front.

The belt buckle symbolises eternity, loyalty, strength and protection. It represents the binding love between the giver and the wearer, and also a love ever-lasting, as the loop has no beginning and no end. Queen Victoria reportedly caused a surge in the popularity of buckle jewellery when she wore a buckle ring to symbolise her induction into the Order of the Garter.

SIZE: Internal circumference is just over seven inches; width 1.9cm.

WEIGHT: 26.9g.

MATERIALS: 925 sterling silver.

HALLMARKS/STAMPS: Fully hallmarked for sterling silver, Birmingham 1884, with the sponsor's mark WN.

CONDITION: The bracelet is in very good antique condition with a few pinprick dints at the sides and minor surface wear consistent with normal usage for its age, please see photos. The clasp and hinge are in good working order and shut securely.

ERA: Victorian, 1884.
