An exceptional late Victorian solid brass fireplace fender of European origin (not Great Britain), and a particularly unusual example due to the way it has been made. This is a substantial, highly decorative fender formed as one large moulded piece of brass, giving it a weighty, quality feel and a finish that simply looks right in front of a real fire.
 
The front was originally moulded in three sections and you can faintly make out where the joins are, but in reality they are very discreet and at normal viewing distance they are not noticeable at all. What you do notice immediately is the beautiful aged patina across the brass, which is deep, warm and naturally time-worn in exactly the way collectors and interior designers look for. This is not something you would want to polish away, the surface has developed a wonderful antique character and it wears its age with real elegance.
