Elmgarden has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
The bench is a real country piece with Shepherd’s crook arms.

Taking into consideration the age of this piece it is in good condition, the feet have been replaced at some time, and the opening of the lid too have been altered many years ago, but the blacksmith made butterfly hinges seem to be the originals. It has the addition of a new feather cushion covered with scarlet plush velvet

The settle is 46” high at the back and 56” wide, it is 22” deep, the seat is 16” deep and 19” high
