Two very collectable early 20thc spelter statues of 1st world war soldiers....( spelter is a zinc-based alloy , often mixed with lead or copper , used to imitate bronze for statues and sculptures), one is an English ''Tommy'' throwing a hand grenade , dressed in full military uniform of the time and the other a Scottish soldier resplendent in his full military uniform holding his 303 rifle.....these would have been on display in the officers mess during the first world war.....both statues have done well to survive , they are both in excellent condition and have gained very good natural colour and patination with no repairs.....I would have expected to see statues of this quality signed, but I cannot find a signature.

English. C1914-18.
