Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Maritime dioramas emerged as a popular form of folk art during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, created by sailors, mariners, or coastal artisans to depict sailing vessels in three-dimensional relief within glazed shadow boxes.

These pieces typically combine hand-carved timber for the hull and sea, painted canvas or board backgrounds, paper or sheet metal sails, thread for rigging, and a glazed timber frame to protect the interior assembly.

Authentic period dioramas display natural age-related patina, hand-carved wood elements, micro-cracking in the original paintwork, hand-strung thread rigging, and original hand-cut or poured glass panes within the frame.

Position the shadow box as a focal point on a mantelpiece, sideboard, or deep window sill within coastal, rustic, or traditional interior schemes to introduce texture and historical interest.

Keep the display box out of direct sunlight to prevent paint fading, avoid high-humidity areas that may compromise wood joints or canvas, and gently clean the exterior glass using a dry microfiber cloth.
