Lincoln Restorations has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
An exceptional original Georgian chest of drawers.
. The figured grain across the drawer fronts is exceptional, offering that sought-after mellow glow that only comes from two centuries of light and careful use. The top is finished with a crisp cross-banded edge and boxwood stringing , a theme continued through the base inlay, which provides a lovely contrast against the warm mahogany tones.

In keeping with its history, the chest was updated during the Victorian era with ebonised turned knobs . While it would have originally sported brass droppers, these 19th-century additions have become part of the piece's unique story and suit the darker accents of the grain perfectly. The chest retains a great stance, sitting on its original bracket feet (which are all solid) .

The internal quality is exactly what you want to see: solid oak linings and clean, hand-cut dovetails. We have traditionally restored and re-polished this piece using shellac French polish , bringing the grain back to life without losing its aged character. All cockbeading is present and correct. For the modern home, we've gone through the drawer runners, repairing and rebuilding them where necessary, ensuring a smooth, daily-use action usually missing in unrestored pieces.

There is some evidence of historic woodworm to the lower drawer and a small area of the base—long since gone, but we have treated it again as a standard precaution. This is a remarkably clean, honest, and functional piece of English furniture with a fantastic colour.

This lovely restored chest of drawers is in home ready condition and is fit for every day use for many more years to come.
Please note; This item is in fantastic condition for its age as shown by the photographs below. Being an antique item of this age there are obviously marks, scratches and dents, however, we feel that these points are which adds to its charm and character to a piece.
