A stylish art deco WMF Ikora glass ‘Vide Poche bowl’ with a splayed rim and a crackle effect finished in red, brown and clear with a polished pontil. The French term Vide Poche means empty pockets, and these shapely bowls are great on any sideboard for your bits and bobs. This example is in excellent condition measuring 11 inches in diameter.

WMF Ikora glass refers to art glass produced by Wurttembergische Metallwarenfabrik in Germany from the 1920s through the 1950s, famous for its surface treatments, internal crackle effects, and rich colour combinations.

Ikora glass was crafted using a multi-layered blowing technique where metallic salts and glass powders were introduced between glass layers, followed by rapid cooling to induce controlled crackling before reheating.

Authentic pieces usually feature heavy hand-blown construction, smooth polished pontil marks or bases, and distinctive chemical oxidisation patterns or crackle effects within the glass casing.
