Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian armchairs from the mid to late nineteenth century are characterised by comfortable upholstery, solid hardwood internal framing, turned mahogany legs, and brass castors designed for ease of movement within formal drawing rooms.

Authentic period armchairs of this era feature solid mahogany or oak frameworks, hand-tied steel coil springs, natural horsehair stuffing, decorative fabric upholstery such as silk or cotton damask, and brass wheel castors.

Look for maker stamps or brass plaque labels on the rear legs or undersides of the frame, stamped brass castors bearing manufacturer names, traditional webbed underside construction, and hand-cut joinery.

Position the pair opposite a sofa to frame a coffee table, flank a fireplace to create a balanced seating nook, or place them within a primary bedroom suite to add texture and historical interest.

Vacuum gently using a soft brush attachment, keep upholstery away from direct sunlight to prevent fabric degradation, treat spills immediately with a clean dry cloth, and apply natural beeswax to the wooden legs.
