Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Georgian card table is a folding table designed during the 18th and early 19th centuries specifically for playing cards and tabletop games. These pieces typically feature hinged tops that open to double the surface area, supported by a gate-leg mechanism or swivel top.

These tables were predominantly crafted from solid mahogany, walnut, or satinwood, often lined internally with green baize or felt. High-quality examples feature hand-dovetailed joints, carved cabriole legs, and brass hinges.

Authentic period card tables display signs of hand-planing, original brass hardware, uneven wear patterns, and period-correct joinery such as hand-cut dovetails. The underside and inner secondary timber usually exhibit natural oxidisation and shrinkage marks.

When folded closed against a wall, a mahogany card table functions as a console or hallway table. Pair it with an antique wall mirror above, a ceramic lamp, or framed artwork to balance traditional timber tones.

Keep the table away from direct sunlight, radiators, and damp environments to prevent timber warping or finish cracking. Regular dusting with a microfibre cloth and occasional application of natural beeswax will maintain the patina.
