Pair of Louis XVI Style Gilt Bronze Furniture Mounts c.1890
A matched pair of gilt bronze furniture mounts, cast in the Louis XVI taste with pierced acanthus and leaf ornament in an elongated architectural form. Intended as decorative appliqués for a cabinet, secrétaire or similar piece of furniture, designed to flank a central panel or door.
The reverses are stamped “AM 188”, understood as a pattern or model number used by a continental bronze supplier producing mounts for the cabinet-making trade.
Dimensions (each):
Height: 25 cm
Width: 6 cm
Very good decorative condition, with light rubbing to the gilt finish and minor oxidation to the reverse and within recesses, consistent with age. Both mounts are structurally sound and form a true matched pair.
