Brief Description:
Of serpentine form, and a magnificently rich red-walnut patina, the piece is embellished throughout with beautiful floral and bird marquetry inlay, displaying Tulips, Birds of prey, Urns and other foliage, all of which are finely inlaid in exotic fruitwoods.
The upper section features a moulded cornice that incorporates a large, carved rising crest, which leads down to a pair of large glazed display doors. Once opened, these doors reveal an original wooden, fitted interior that has been beautifully painted in Farrow & Ball's Citrus chalk paint.
(Note: the interior colour can easily be changed to suit one's taste).
The lower section incorporates a bank of three very large drawers, all of which are of serpentine form, with period brass drop handles and matching central brass escutcheons.
The whole terminates in a pair of huge carved hairy paw feet.
This is a stunningly attractive piece, and it is one of the best we have encountered.
The piece separates into two sections for ease of transportation and installation.
