Description

A pretty Worcester porcelain saucer dish, decorated in the Sevres style with a shaped apple green ground, ornately edged with finely detailed gilt scrolls and arabesques. The centre is painted with a "spotted fruit" arrangement of blackcurrants, strawberry, red chili peppers and the spotted apple and gooseberry. Dotted around the cavetto are various exotic insects and small green leaf sprigs. Unmarked, c. 1770.

Provenance: The W H Pitts Collection.

It measures 18.5cm (7 1/4") wide and 3.8cm (1 1/2") high.

In excellent condition with no damage, repair or restoration and only minor handing wear.
