Royal Doulton John.h.plant Handpainted Vase Windsor Castle C1910

J.H. Plant Royal Doulton porcelain ovoid vases with Nouveau Handles, decorated with views of Windsor Castle, signed by J.H. Plant, titled to the base 'Windsor Castle' in red, with double angular gilt handles, printed marks in green, 28.7 cms high. A beautiful example painted around the entire vase, with a possible historic repair to the lip, but very hard to notice. A wonderful examp[le by one of Doultons better artists. Before joining Doulton in 1902, Plant had worked for other notable pottery companies, including Coalport and Wedgwood. At Doulton, he was a renowned landscape artist who specialised in painting British castles, cathedrals, and other historic buildings on high-quality cabinet plates, vases, and other ornamental ware.

His known work for the company includes a series featuring Cathedrals such as Westminster Abbey, York Minster, Canterbury Cathedral, and Ely Cathedral.

Castles like Windsor, Warwick, Bamburgh, Harlech, and Conway.

Pieces painted by John Hugh Plant often feature intricate gilt borders and are signed by the artist.
