This is a wonderful example of Mid-Century Post-Impressionist art.

By the 1950s, artists were moving away from the rigid realism of earlier centuries and experimenting with more vibrant, emotive color palettes.

Floral still lifes from this era are currently very popular in interior design because they bridge the gap between "traditional antique" and "modern vintage."

Painted on board which was common in the 1950s as it provided a sturdy, smooth surface for heavy brushwork Mid-Century Impressionism.

It is confident in its brushstrokes and how light hits the petals and material.
