Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Music cabinets were developed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries to provide dedicated storage for sheet music, bound musical scores, and later, early gramophone records. They allowed home musicians to keep paper sheets flat and organised near a piano or record player.

Cabinets from this era were predominantly crafted from hardwoods such as mahogany or walnut, often utilising thin veneers over solid frames. Decorative features frequently included boxwood or satinwood inlaid stringing, glass door panels, and cast brass drop handles or keyhole escutcheons.

Authentic pieces generally feature specialized interior layouts, such as shallow fall-front drawers or internal paper dividers. Key indicators include hand-fitted joinery, period-correct brass hardware showing natural surface oxidisation, and original leaded or framed glass panels.

These compact storage cabinets function well in contemporary interiors as accent side tables, hallway organizers, or dedicated vinyl record storage. The dark wood tone complements traditional study schemes or contrasts neatly against neutral minimalist walls.

Dust the surfaces regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish twice a year along the grain to maintain the timber finish. Keep the piece away from direct sunlight, radiators, or damp conditions to prevent wood shrinkage and veneer lifting.
