Circular 19th Century Pollard Oak Occasional Lamp Table
£3,300 $4,507 €3,799
A Very Good Quality And Particularly Attractive Mid 19th Century William IV Period Pollard, Or Burr, Oak Occasional Lamp Table Having Exceptionally Well Figured Circular Top, With Radiating Quarter Veneers And Lovely Central Set Panel, Raised On Elegant Turned Centre Support Column With Triform Base And Arched Bracket Feet.
Somewhat unusually this lovely little lamp table is constructed using highly attractive and figured pollard oak veneers. To be clear although burr oak and pollard oak are not officially the same thing, when it comes to antique furniture the two terms tend to be used interchangably and more often than not treated as though they are the same thing.
Whichever your preference in terms of referring to it, the timber is highly decorative and retains a lovely warmth to it. As with items constructed from burr walnut, burr maple, burr yew and any other burr type woods the table is much rarer than an identical table constructed from normal timber as put simply there wa...s far less burr veneer available to work with and it was also incredibly expensive in its raw form.
The table is in excellent condition with significant defects either visually or structurally and has a real charm and elegance to it. The simplicity of the design is something which really adds to the elegance and the table would be a beautiful addition to just about any spot, in any room of the house, as well as being incredibly functional.
As with all items which we offer for sale it has been inspected by our highly trained, specialist, traditional antique furniture restorers and received a natural wax polish to ensure it is in excellent condition and ready to be placed straight into the home.
