Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Published in Amsterdam during the 17th century, the Atlas Novus by Joan Blaeu represents the peak of Dutch cartography during the Golden Age of mapmaking. These works combined detailed geographical survey data with decorative heraldic coats of arms and ornate cartouches.

Seventeenth-century maps were printed using engraved copper plates onto hand-made rag paper using a rolling press. Hand colouring with watercolour pigments was subsequently applied by skilled illuminators.

Authentic copperplate prints display a visible plate mark indentation around the printed border where the metal pressed into the paper. Additionally, period rag paper typically exhibits a central vertical fold, chain lines, and characteristic age-related toning.

An antique map can be displayed above a sideboard, desk, or along a staircase to add visual structure and historical interest. Pair it with dark timber furniture, brass accents, or contemporary lighting to create a balanced scheme.

Frame paper maps using UV-filtering glass and acid-free mounting materials to prevent fading and discoloration. Keep the artwork away from direct sunlight, high humidity, and extreme temperature fluctuations.
