Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

George III furniture, spanning 1760 to 1820, is characterised by classical proportions, refined cabinetry, and the predominant use of imported mahogany. Design evolution during this period drew heavy inspiration from Thomas Chippendale, George Hepplewhite, and Thomas Sheraton.

Georgian serving tables were predominantly constructed from solid Cuban or West Indian mahogany, often featuring flame mahogany veneers on friezes and aprons. Secondary timbers such as pine or oak were typically utilized for drawer linings and internal framework.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-sawn timber marks, hand-cut dovetail joints, and natural wood shrinkage along grain lines over time. Original surface patination, dark oxidisation on unpolished undersides, and traditional pegged mortise-and-tenon joinery further indicate period authenticity.

A Georgian serving table functions effectively as an entryway console or formal dining room server in contemporary spaces. Positioned beneath large modern artwork or paired with contemporary lamps, the piece bridges traditional cabinetmaking with modern aesthetic schemes.

Maintain mahogany surfaces by dusting regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and applying beeswax polish once or twice a year. Keep the table away from direct sunlight and heat radiators to prevent wood movement, veneer lifting, or finish bleaching.
