According to tradition, Mary Magdalene sought penance as an expression of her profound sorrow and love for God after encountering Jesus's mercy and forgiveness.

A young woman thought to be Mary Magdalene, portrayed amongst a baron rocky landscape with birds circling above amongst the evening skyline, fallen angel and wine flagon at her side.

Oil on canvas, unsigned, unframed.

Condition: Craquelure present, pin sized holes most visible when held against the light (highlighted) and general age related wear.
