A delightful terracotta figure of a Mother and child, possibly Austrian, unmarked, so hard to attribute, certainly an early 20th-century example. This fine piece has the flavours of the following artists. Tactile and very colourful this fine decorative item would fit into any interior.
 
''Werkstätte style'' terracotta Mother & Child sculptures were produced by several artists in the early-to-mid 20th century, notably the Austrian ceramist Michael Powolny and the British sculptor Christine Gregory. The Wiener Werkstätte itself encouraged collaboration across media, including ceramics, especially during the 1920s and 30s when material shortages were common.
