Rare And Early Pair Of Art Deco-shaped Royal Doulton Stoneware Vases With Later Decoration By Ethel Beard.

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Lee Sherman Antiques

A very rare and early pair of Art Deco-shaped Royal Doulton stoneware vases with later decoration by Ethel Beard.

The shape of this vase was first used in about 1912, as one of Doulton''s ''New Style'' vases announced that year. This one must be post-1922, as it bears the Doulton Circle mark with only a Lion, which started in that year. The shape is illustrated in Desmond Eyles'' The Doulton Lambeth Wares'' on pages 179 and 217. The vases bear Ethel Beard''s monogram, inscribed beneath both.

The vases are in perfect condition, with no cracks, chips, crazing or restoration.
