Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Adam style wall lights are Neoclassical lighting fixtures inspired by the 18th-century designs of architect Robert Adam. They typically feature classical motifs such as central urns, anthemion leaves, rams heads, and symmetrical twin or triple scroll arms.

Historically, Neoclassical wall sconces were cast in solid brass or bronze and finished with gilt lacquering or fire-gilding. The candle sleeves were traditionally crafted from card, wood, or beeswax to imitate genuine tallow candles.

Authentic period pieces display cast-metal construction with crisp hand-chased detailing rather than thin stamped metal. Look for signs of age on the reverse, such as original casting seam lines, heavy threaded rod construction, and subtle oxidisation to the gilt finish.

Position wall sconces in pairs or sets of four to flank central architectural features, such as over a fireplace mantel, beside a large gilt mirror, or along a hallway. Their warm metallic finish provides balanced ambient lighting while serving as decorative focal points.

Dust wall lights regularly using a soft, dry microfibre cloth or feather duster. Avoid abrasive chemical polishes or water, as these can strip original gilding, protective lacquer, and historic patina.
