Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the 19th century, ceramic apothecary jars served as standardized storage vessels for raw medical ingredients, ointments, powders, and liquids in chemist shops, often featuring Latin labels to denote their contents.

Antique chemist jars were typically crafted from glazed creamware, earthenware, or porcelain, often featuring hand-painted or transfer-printed Latin inscriptions framed by gilded and coloured borders.

Authentic 19th-century examples display characteristic fine crazing within the glaze, wear or oxidisation to the gilding, hand-lettered Latin abbreviations, and unglazed rim bases or maker marks on the underside.

These historical ceramic vessels add visual texture to open shelving in modern kitchens, act as focal points on bathroom counters, or sit as decorative curiosities within bookshelf arrangements.

Clean glazed ceramic jars using a soft dry cloth or lukewarm water with mild soap, avoiding abrasive sponges or harsh chemicals that could damage original hand-painted gilding and transfers.
