Description

This must be the best Masons Ironstone Hall vase that I have ever owned. It is just magnificent. Pictures will not do it justice or quite show the scale of the piece.

It stands 108 cms high, and the width of the lid is 50 cms.

Decorated with butterflies, bugs, flowers in gold and coloured enamels. This piece was made for a very important home.

The finial of the lid is a bunch of asparagus with green balls at the top.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Patented by Charles James Mason in 1813, ironstone china was developed in Staffordshire, England, as a durable, heavy earthenware designed to compete with costly imported Chinese porcelain. Regency era pieces often featured vibrant Chinoiserie decorations and rich cobalt glazes.

Ironstone ceramics were manufactured using clay mixed with ground slag, flint, and feldspar to produce a dense ceramic body. These vessels were coated in lead glazes, decorated with hand-painted vitreous enamels, and highlighted with liquid gold gilding.

Authentic pieces from the 1810s and 1820s typically feature impressed line marks such as MASONS PATENT IRONSTONE CHINA, possess considerable physical weight, and display deep cobalt or mazarine blue glazes with intricate hand-enameled surface detail.

A substantial hall vase serves as a focal point in a formal entryway, foyer centre, or spacious hallway. Positioning the vessel on a low plinth or pedestal against a modern neutral backdrop highlights its architectural scale and rich colour scheme.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth to prevent scratch marks. Avoid chemical detergents, abrasive sponges, or immersion in water, as moisture and harsh rubbing can degrade historical overglaze enamels and original gilding.
