Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian Staffordshire portrait figures are lead-glazed earthenware ornaments produced in Staffordshire, England, during the 19th century, designed primarily to depict royalty, political figures, military commanders, and popular cultural figures.

These pieces were press-moulded from earthenware clay in multi-part press moulds, fired, coated in lead glaze, and subsequently decorated by hand with overglaze enamel paints and metallic gilding before a final lower-temperature firing.

Authentic 19th-century figures usually feature flat, unpainted or minimally modelled backs meant for mantelpiece display, visible mould seams, age-appropriate enamel wear, glaze crazing, and often a small release hole in the base.

Place the figure as a focal accent on a fireplace mantelpiece, styled alongside modern art prints or curated decorative items, or integrate it into a styled bookshelf vignette to add historic texture.

Dust gently with a dry, soft-bristled brush or clean using a soft cloth dampened lightly with warm water, taking care to avoid harsh detergents, abrasive rubbing, or soaking, which can damage overglaze enamels and gilding.
