Art Deco Rare Ladies Perfume Atomiser, French, C1930

1920 - 1940
For Sale by Art Deco World
Description

This is one of our personal favourite atomizers of this years finds. It's so very stylish and unusual. Totally original 1930s Art Deco perfume atomiser on a black glass plinth. Originates from France. These perfume bottles are very hard to source. A perfect addition to any collection or to an admirer of the Art Deco period.

Would look great displayed on an Art Deco dressing table; Altogether, a very desirable Art Deco 1930s period glass perfume bottle

In good vintage condition. There are one or two fleabite size nics to the base, mentioned for accuracy as they genuinely aren't noticeable unless you search for them. Priced accordingly. The chrome plating is still shiny but does have some very minor signs of age.

There are some scratches to the black enamel on one side, nothing to distract and expected wear for a bottle this age. No oxidisation to the enamelling, everything is bright and crisp.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco perfume atomisers are characterised by geometric silhouettes, clean lines, and heavy glass or crystal bases paired with metallic spray mechanisms. Popularised during the 1920s and 1930s, these vanity pieces reflected the eras modern industrial aesthetic.

These atomisers typically featured heavy cut glass, lead crystal, or molded glass bases, often complemented by contrast materials such as black Bakelite or polished glass plinths. The functional atomizer pumps were generally constructed from nickel-plated or chrome-plated brass.

Authentic period atomisers usually display patent markings or maker stamps on the metal collar or pump arm, alongside characteristic geometric wheel-cut patterns or faceting. Weight is another indicator, as early crystal and thick-walled glass bases feel substantial.

An antique perfume bottle serves as an accent piece on a bathroom counter, dressing table, or bedside nightstand. Grouping it alongside minimalist brass trays or marble vanity accessories highlights its geometric form.

Clean the exterior glass gently using soft microfibre cloths and mild glass cleaner, avoiding submersion of metal mechanisms to prevent internal rust. To protect chrome and nickel plating from tarnishing, keep the item in a dry environment free from harsh chemicals.
