A fine and impressive 19th-century French ormolu and white marble clock garniture of exceptional decorative quality.
The central mantel clock is surmounted by two beautifully cast reclining cherub figures, executed in rich gilt bronze with excellent depth, definition and surface detail. The clock is set within an ornate ormolu surround, mounted on a stepped white marble base with applied floral swags and classical ornamentation.
Accompanying the clock is a matching pair of branch ormolu candelabra, each supported by a standing cherub figure holding naturalistic foliate candle arms. The candelabra rest on conforming white marble bases with gilt bronze mounts, creating a balanced and highly decorative ensemble.
This is a statement-level garniture, ideal for display on a mantelpiece, console table or within a formal interior, and equally suited to collectors of fine French decorative arts.
