Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Louis XVI style furniture is characterized by Neoclassical design principles, featuring straight lines, geometric symmetry, fluted or square tapered legs, and decorative classical motifs such as laurel leaves and rosette mounts.

Tables from this period commonly incorporate fine hardwood veneers such as kingwood, tulipwood, or mahogany, styled with geometric parquetry and finished with cast ormolu gilding and felt or baize interior playing surfaces.

Authentic 19th-century ormolu mounts display fine chasing and hand-finishing detail, subtle oxidisation in crevasses, and secure hand-threaded screw fittings on the reverse rather than modern uniform fasteners.

An antique games table functions as an accent piece placed against a wall as a console table, dressed with contemporary ceramics or art, and opened for use during social occasions.

Timber veneers should be kept away from direct sunlight and heat sources, treated periodically with natural beeswax, while ormolu mounts should only be dusted gently with a soft dry brush to preserve the gilt surface.
