Peter Harris Clocks & Militaria has dated this Indian Kulah Khud Helmet to the 1900s.

The crown is surmounted by a tulip-shaped finial with integral steel plume holder, flanked by additional side plume holders, all original. To the front is a fully functioning sliding nasal bar, retaining gilt koftgari decoration to both terminals. The lower edge fitted with its original hand-linked steel chain mail aventail, forming protective neck and shoulder panels.

The interior shows clear hand-hammering marks and forging characteristics consistent with 18th-century Indian armour construction. The helmet retains its original surface, patina, and fittings throughout, with no evidence of later assembly or modern restoration.

A genuine combat helmet of quality, intended for a warrior of rank, combining practical protection with refined Indo-Persian decorative vocabulary.
