This is a rare and exceptional 19th-century carved Black Forest Bear Novelty Desk Top Candle holder and matchstick holder.
The adorable and incredible quality piece dates from the mid-19th-century.
It portrays a fastidiously carved Black Forest Bear that is poised in the standing position with its growling jaws wide open.
He stands within a solid brass faux cage that comprises a brass candle holder and an elegant, engraved matchstick holder.
He/she has glass eyes and beautifully carved faux fur.
It is a truly outstanding quality piece, and the images do not do it justice.
